Explanation Writing

Here is the link for the explanation exemplar we will be looking at today.

Why does Earth need atmosphere?

Stage One

This is the first stage (of 3) in your 'Game On!' project that will continue into term 2. You should have finished this stage by the end of THIS term, at least.

1. Select a sport or game that meets the following criteria;
- it has some equipment that moves
- it is played (or could be played) with the gear we have at school
(This is so you will have what you need to test and experiment)
- it is interesting and fun
- you will be motivated by it

Don't be worried if your team chooses a game you don't want, it is the journey that will, hopefully, excite you, not the sport.

2. Complete at least 3 experiments that explore 3 forces involved in your sport. These are found in school wide, rm 12, science experiments folder. The experiments must be recorded with the following;
- a detailed description of the experiment, what you did, used, saw, thought, concluded etc.
You can use some of the questioning sheets with the experiments.
- you must write YOUR OWN explanation of how the force works with your game. We will
talk more about this soon.
- photos or short video footage of some part of your experiment.

Begin to record your project in some way. Some examples might be ppt, video, wall display, podcast with photos (you can do this in ppt), or in another imaginative way.

We will talk about this more in class and I will be working next to you with some questions to help you on the way. You will be able to use some S.D.L time and we will have lots of class time set aside, especially from week 10 onwards!

GAME ON!

Here's the project matrix to help you work through the steps.
